Female slam poets of francophone Africa: spirited words for social change

Abstract Slam poets in Africa are part of an emerging social movement. In this article, the focus is on women upcoming slam movement francophone Africa. For these women, has meant a change their lives as they have found words to describe difficult experiences that were previously shrouded silence. Their words, performances and engaged actions developing into body popular knowledge questions status quo relates ‘emerging consciousness’ many African urban societies unequal, often gendered, power relations. The who engage thus become voice for emancipation general.
